Our Engagement Photos!

Happy Valentine’s Day! I thought it was the perfect day to share the engagement photos that me and my fiancé, Rob, took just a few weeks ago! The photos were taken by the lovely Dailey. After pouring through photographers for hours and hours and hours, I found Dailey’s work and found it to be exactly what I was looking for: she had vision, a good mixture of candid and posed shots, used both moody and natural lighting, was actually available for our VERY close wedding date, and she came at a great price point!

It was our first professional photo session in our 8 years of dating – I’ve always said that I didn’t want to take professional photos until our engagement session. As a result, I was a little awkward (surprise surprise) at first, but Daily was such a breeze to work with and soon we both felt comfortable! We had two outfits, formal and casual, but I’m loving the casual outfits just a little more because they felt more us.

We also incorporated some elements of our relationship into the photos: 8 years ago, Rob first approached me on a bench in undergrad, so we took a few bench shots. He’s a drummer and music teacher, and of course y’all know I love books, so we incorporated that as well! I love these pictures and couldn’t wait to share them with everyone. I feel like our personalities really shine through with each photo!

Okay, enough rambling. Here are a few of my very favorite photos from our engagement session (if you think these are a lot, we received a TON. We loved them all, but I’m sure y’all would get tired of looking at some point!) So grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and enjoy 🙂

  • Thank you so much to @disney for gifting me this cute package to celebrate #marypoppinsreturns! It’s out now on digital, 4K Ultra HD and Blu-Ray. These books are so adorable! Have you read them or watched the movie yet? ☂️
  • I’ve partnered up with @letstalkYA and @freeform books to share a REALLY BIG book haul on my channel that includes this beauty, #TheEverlastingRose. 🌹 The link is in my bio! I can't wait to curl up with this book! Y'all know I am a huge fan of The Belles. Have you started this series yet?
  • These are the books I read in January (I’ll be sharing the books I read in February on my channel soon!) I didn’t plan on only reading books with blue covers. 💙 I really enjoyed all three of these books and two of them became 5 star reads for me. Have you read any of them?
  • This week was such an exciting one for THE FORGOTTEN GIRL! R.L. STINE, the author of the GOOSEBUMPS books, blurbed my novel!! He says "This ghost story gave me chill after chill. It will haunt you." 😱👻 WHAT! I received more exciting news that I can’t share yet, but can’t wait to. ✨ I’m just so thankful. 🙌🏽🙏🏽
  • “One can't stay sad very long in such an interesting world, can one?” 💗 I finished Anne of Green Gables in January and it became an instant favorite. It put me in a reading slump bc I wanted to read something exactly like it when I was done! Anne is such a lovable character and I feel like we have the same view on life. This is a classic, character driven story with beautiful descriptions that makes you feel like you’re going through Anne’s life with her. Have you read it? What other books give you the same feelings as this one? #AnneOfGreenGables
  • I turned in second pass pages for #TheForgottenGirl this week, so here’s a tiny sneak peek. 😍 Look at the chapter headings! ✨
  • Very cheesy selfie to tell you that I have a new video on my channel featuring the books I read in January and what I’m reading this month! Also this @olay sweatshirt is one of my favorite work-from-home shirts, ever. 📚
  • @buzzfeedbooks included me in their round-up of books by Black authors not to miss this year, along with so many other authors I admire! ☺️🙌🏽! The Forgotten Girl is for the young and young at heart. It isn’t available for preorder everywhere yet, but I’ve seen it on Amazon, Books-a-million, and IndieBound so far! 💙
