September Goals 2016

A little late, but I definitely need to be held accountable for these goals. Like I said in my last post, I’m moving to New York, and since this came about so quickly, I have a lot of stuff to do this month! First, a look at my August Goals. August was a fun and…

  • “One can't stay sad very long in such an interesting world, can one?” 💗 I finished Anne of Green Gables in January and it became an instant favorite. It put me in a reading slump bc I wanted to read something exactly like it when I was done! Anne is such a lovable character and I feel like we have the same view on life. This is a classic, character driven story with beautiful descriptions that makes you feel like you’re going through Anne’s life with her. Have you read it? What other books give you the same feelings as this one? #AnneOfGreenGables
  • I turned in second pass pages for #TheForgottenGirl this week, so here’s a tiny sneak peek. 😍 Look at the chapter headings! ✨
  • Very cheesy selfie to tell you that I have a new video on my channel featuring the books I read in January and what I’m reading this month! Also this @olay sweatshirt is one of my favorite work-from-home shirts, ever. 📚
  • @buzzfeedbooks included me in their round-up of books by Black authors not to miss this year, along with so many other authors I admire! ☺️🙌🏽! The Forgotten Girl is for the young and young at heart. It isn’t available for preorder everywhere yet, but I’ve seen it on Amazon, Books-a-million, and IndieBound so far! 💙
  • Today being Langston Hughes’ birthday and the first day of Black History Month has me feeling really inspired to create. I wrote 2k words on my new project and I’m feeling really good about them! January was a great month for me, I hope February is even better. ✊🏽✨I took this picture at the Langston Hughes House with @i_too_arts in 2017! What are you working on today?
  • A quick recap of all of the books I read in 2018! I enjoyed them ALL. This year, my goal is is to read 30 books. You can find my thoughts on each book in the new video at the link in my bio. The only book I realized I forgot to mention was The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton 🤦🏽‍♀️ I REALLY enjoyed that one and have the review for it on my channel! Did you read any of these books? 💕
  • A year ago today, I said yes to my dress, and I’m sharing the ones that almost were in my IG stories. This is actually one of the few pictures I have in my wedding dress with my hair curly. It was 95 degrees on my wedding day and I didn’t want to be fussing over my curls (my hands are always in my head lol), so I opted for straight hair. I also wanted to do something out of the norm, since I wear my hair like this 98% of the time. I’m glad I did, but I still really love this photo. 💕
  • I’m writing something new, and this time it’s a YA romance. 💕 This project has been swimming around in my head for months. For the past year or so I’ve been editing or rewriting, so I’m so excited to start a new story. I have to start on paper first, to scribble out the general idea or quotes I want to use. I’m having so much fun with one, y’all. 😍 Also, shoutout to my husband for buying this new notebook, and my mom for buying me this lap desk. Now it’s so easy to write in bed. 😂 #amwriting
